Problems of Primary School Headteachers: Problem Sources and Support Strategies

Abstract
The purpose of the research was to investigate the problems encountered by primary school headteachers. The study from which its data are drawn was undertaken in Ankara in the summer of 2007. This article reports findings from a study of 165 primary school headteachers. The data were collected with the Managerial Problems of Primary School Headteachers Questionnaire. The research found that primary school headteachers face many problems mainly in the area of budgeting, and management of general services. Headteacher saw the failure to comply with the principles of merit as the main sources of the problems.
