The study was carried out to determine the views of mothers having a child in the age group of 46 over child books and in what way they buy and give them to their children. The study is a descriptive survey. Five hundred ninety-nine mothers from 57 provinces were included in the study. The data obtained were analyzed in the package program of SPSS 15.00 through chi square (X2) method. The mothers were asked about the age when the child first had the book in his hand, the way of introducing the child with the book, the reading status of the child, the number of books the child had, the person reading the book to the child at home, why the child was read a book and what they did while looking at a picture book with the child. At the end of the study, it was found that university graduate mother were more conscious in these issues at a statistically significant level
