Introduction: Green discolouration of urine is a not so common finding.
Case report: We present a five-year-old male child who had a transient episode of green urine in the postoperative period. The patient was admitted for closure of stoma (ileostomy) and correction of enterocutaneous fistula. In the postoperative period, the paediatrician noticed green urine. After ruling out other medical and surgery-related causes of green urine we concluded that the cause of green urine was Methylene blue dye which had been used intraoperatively to delineate the enterocutaneous fistulous tract.
Conclusion: Methylene blue is an important cause of green urine.
