In this paper, not only the nature but also the strength of the causal relationshıip among real exports, imports, and economic growth in Turkey over the period of 1987-2006 is investigated. Particularly the role of import variable in the investigating of economic growth-export causality is emphasized. The Granger causality tests results confirm that there is unidirectional causality between variables considered, mainly running from export to economic growth and import and import to economic growth. Moreover, IRFs and VDCs support this result therefore allows to conclude that export led growth hypothesis is supported by the Turkish data over the period.
