Abstract | | | | Objective: Aim of this retrospective study is decision for biopsy indication with using ultrasonography findings.
Material and Method: 96 patients and 102 solid breast masses were evaluated and grouped as BI-RADS classification. Core needle biopsy was performed to all lesions and evaluated retrospectively.
Results: Twenty three of solid breast masses were cytologically malignant (%22.6) and 79 of them were benign (%77.4). In our study most common benign lesion was fibroadenoma and most common malignant leison was invasive ductal carcinoma. We calculated malignant/benign ratio in all BI-RADS subgroups as percent. Our findings were compatible with literature.
Conclusion: On recent days with technological developments even higher resolution ultrasonography devices are being used, researchers are able to find and define pleomorphic microclacifications respectively. Our experience shows that we can determine biopsy indication adequately with using BI-RADS ultrasonography findings.
