Intestinal parasitic infections are the most common infection worldwide. The social and economical situation of the individuals is an important cause in the prevalence of intestinal parasites. This study aimed to describe the prevalence of Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia and to determine their impact on health of students of Home Economics College in Tanta city, Egypt. The present study resembled by 120 female students from urban and rural areas of six governorates (El-Gharbia, El Dakahlea,El Sharkea, El Menufia, El Behera and Kafer El Sheikh). Their ages ranged between 17-23 years. One hundred and twenty stool samples were collected and investigated for the presence of intestinal parasites. Eighty samples of students blood were investigated for the presence of anaemia. Stool specimens were examined using direct wet mount and the formol-ether concentration techniques. Data were analyzed using Chi- square test by SPSS statistical software (Version 12.0). The overall prevalence of the two intestinal parasites was 83.33% (100 parasite/ 120 students) .The percentages of E. histolytica and Giardia lamblia were 60.0% (72 parasite/120 students) and 23.33% (28 parasite/120 studies), respectively. The anaemia recorded among the infected students by 47.5% (p < 0.01).
