Abstract
Genotoxicity of carboplatin was assayed in the somatic cell of adult male Swiss albino mice Mus musculus was evaluated by assessment of incidence of sperm-head abnormalities. Three doses were used a sub-acute therapeutic dose (2 mgkg), double the therapeutic dose (4 mgkg) and five times the therapeutic dose (10 mgkg), for five consecutive days by injection into the intraperitoneal injection. The results showed significant increase in the sperm-head abnormalities test in two stages; late spermatids and secondary spermatocytes. There was a positive relationship between dose and occurrence of sperm-head abnormalities test. From this result it can be concluded that carboplatin is mutagenic. This mutagenic strength could access to germ cell which give the ability of transmitting to the next generations.
