NEEDS AND PRIORITIES IN AYURVEDIC RESEARCH A BOTANICAL APPROACH
V.V. SIVARAJAN, INDU BALACHANDRAN.
Abstract
The confusion in the identity of medicinal herbs used in Ayurveda is common knowledge. The paper deals with some of the basic reasons for the present chaotic state of affairs. A botanical approach to the problem might probably help at least the future generations to achieve some standards in the matter of raw drugs which is a prelude for the standardization of Ayurvedic medicines and formularies. The paper also calls for a reshuffling of priorities in Ayurvedic research and education.
