Victoza for weight management - implications for use in Pakistan

We report a case of 33 year old diabetic female with morbid obesity (BMI 45.2 kg/m2). She was started on Victoza on a dose of 0.6 mg for first week, 1.2 mg for the second week and 1.8 mg from third week onwards, subcutaneously. Over the course of 9 months, she lost a total weight of 39 pounds (15.6% of her original body weight) without developing any serious side effects. Victoza is a safe and effective medication for weight loss and glycemic control and can play an integral part in weight management of diabetic patients.
