Intestinal parasites are important health problems of especially poor and underdeveloped countries. It is aimed in
this study that the frequency of parasites and its distribution according to years in Malatya among the patients who
applied to Public Health Laboratories. The patients directed to Malatya Public Health Laboratories from Health
centers, has been searched.
In this study 2513 samples has been researched from 1997 to 2001 and the intestinal parasites have been seen in 750
samples. These parasites consisted of 188 (%25.1) Giardia intestinalis, in 187 (%24.9) Enterobius vermicularis, in 179
(%23.9) Ascaris lumbricoides, in 156 (%20.8) Entamoeba histolytica in 31 (%4.0) Taenia saginata, in 7 (%0.9) Hymenolepis
nana and in 2 (%0.3), Trichuris trichiura Among 750 parasites the most seen three G. intestinalis, E. vermicularis and A.
lumbricoides.
