Objective: In vitro effect of certain antibiotics on 375gram negative rods isolated from patients in the intensive care unit of Turgut Ozal Medical Center was investigated. Material and Method: Antibiotic sensitivity tests were performed by disc diffusion method according to NCCLS recomendations.
Findings: The most effective antibiotics were trovafioxadn, cefodizime disodium, cefuroxime axetil, meropenem, and ticarcillin clavulonic acid. Of these antibiotics, trovafioxadn (99 %), meropenem (95 %), and ticarcillin clavulonic acid (95 %) were the most effective.
Conclusion: The in vivo effect of trovafioxadn should be supported with clinical experiments. Meropenem and ticarcillin klavulonic add could also considered to be used according to antibiogram results in patients of intensive care unit.
