Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that Lyme disease has affected millions of people in recent years. Lyme disease is associated with many clinical manifestations such as skin, musculoskeletal, nervous system and cardiac involvements. Borrella burgdorferi Is the etioiogic agent for Lyme disease and is transmitted by Ixoides ticks.
Many studies related to structure and antigenic characteristics of B. Burgdorferi, and epidemiology, clinical feature, and laboratory diagnosis of the illness are being performed. Furthermore, immunization researches continue to develop an effective vaccine.
This study is performed to focus on Lyme disease and its etiological agent in Turkey by reviewing the results of the studies related to this subject.
