The human immune system is extremely complex and interacts bidirectionalfy with environmental, metabolic, and endocrine factors as well as with infectious agents. It is arranged and controlled by genetics. Atopic dermatitis is a hereditary and distinct type inflammatory skin disease which may be associated with other atopic manifestations such as asthma, hay fever, and vernal conjunctivitis. The etiopathogenesis of atopic dermatitis is unknown and it is widely accepted that both intrinsic and extrinsic factors are involved.
