Identification of Candida species isolated from various clinical specimens in Turgut Özal Medical Center

The azol group drugs given without performing yeast isolation and Identification lead to the selection of non-albicans Candida species that are resistant to these drugs and result in more frequent infections of these spec es.

This study was performed to determine the rate of non-albicans Cand da spec es n our hosp tal. For th s a m, 76 Cand da stra ns solated as pathogen agents were identifed by API-20 C (Biomerioux) identifcation system. The most commonly isolated Candida species was C. albicans 72°% and 28°% of the isolates were non-albicans species.
