Abstract
A hypercoagulable state is well recognized in association with malignant tumors and results in a greatly increased risk of thromboembolic disease during surgery in these patients. This study examines fibrinogen and platelet levels and attempts to correlate these w/th disease stage in patients with gastric carcinoma. Fibrinogen concentration and platelet counts were examined in a consecutive group of 25 patients w/th gastric carcinoma. AH patients were staged according to UICC TNM classification.
