Abstract
7here are several re/forts regarding the influence of chronic severe anemia on systolic myocardial function, but the effect on diastolic Junction are not clearly determined. In this study, the effects of chronic anemia on myocardial systolic and diastolic function were investigated in 22 patients (lltc less 25 percent) and I ~ normal control subjects. All patients and control subjects were performed M-mode, two dimensional and doppler echocardiography. Left ventricülar end diastolic dimension and volum, endsistolic dimension and volume were measured, ejection fraction (Eh'), stroke volume (Si'), cardiac output (CO) were calculated from this measurements. Peak velocity of the early diastolic filling wave (E). peak velocity of the atria! Jilling wave (A), acceleration time, deceleration time, and ratio of E to A were calculated from transmitralJlowpattern. We found Eh'. SI’. CO. Enddiastolic volume and heart rate in patients with anemia significantly higher, endsystolic volume. E. E:A . significantly lower than control subjects. In conclusion: H e found in patients with chronic severe anemia systolic hiperfunction and impairment of diastolic function, but there was no evidence of congestive heart J’ailure. ¡.Journal of Turgut Özal Medical Center 1(2): 122-125.19)4f
