Comparing with transthorasic echocardiography and transesopheagia! echocardiography methods for measurement of aort vaive area

Abstract


 

It is well known that; examination of heart valves by transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is superior to transthorasic echocardiography (TTE). In this study we aimed to evaluate differences between TEE and TTE for measurement of aortic valve area. 3 women (mean age: 55+8) and 12 men (mean age: 58+7) total 15 patients with calcific aort stenosis were included in the study. Aortic valve area measured by TTE. After premedication, left ventricular outflow tractus (L VOT) was measured by TEE using continuity equation aort valve area measured again.Mean gradient was calculated 32 mmHg by TTE. L VOT was measured 1.8 cm by TTE while 2.2 cm by TEE (p
