In this study, total anticytomegalovirus (ACMV) IgM and IgG antibodies were researched by ELISA method in the serum samples of296 pregnant women who presented and/or hospitalized in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic of school of medicine, University of Atatürk, Erzurum-Turkey, between January 1991 and February 1992.
Two hundred seventy-eight ( 93.92 %)of the serum samples were seropozitive. In 252 (84.46 % ) of them A CMV IgG and in 26 (8.78 %) A CMV IgG + IgM were detected. Eight-teen sera samples (6.08 %) were found to be seronegative.
Absorbance levels of ACMV detected 252 sera samples were correlated with pregnancy period and age, and results were discussed. [Journal ofTurgut Ozal Medical Center 2(2):148-151,1995
