Hanan Ali Alshafie, Mousa Ali Ayyashi.

Abstract

Background: Basidiobolomycosis is a granulomatous disease of the skin and subcutaneous tissues.
Case presentation: We report the case of a 42-year-old soldier who complained of painful left-sided preauricular and cheek swelling for 4 weeks, with gradual onset. The diagnosis was confirmed by fungal culture and the patient was treated successfully by antifungal and surgical intervention.
Conclusion: This report highlights the importance of considering basidiobolomycosis as a differential diagnosis of chronic facial swelling.
