Modern approaches in teaching nursing fundamentals course: Türkiye perspective

Nursing education has undergone significant transformation globally in response to the increasing demand for healthcare services and advancements in science and technology. Fundamentally, nursing education commences with the instruction of nursing fundamentals, integrating knowledge dissemination with various methodologies aimed at fostering students’ clinical competencies. In this context, the teaching of nursing fundamentals constitutes a crucial determinant of healthcare service quality. Given that nurses play a pivotal role in patient care, the pedagogical strategies and techniques employed in this field are of paramount importance. The methodologies utilized in nursing fundamentals education are continually evolving to ensure that students acquire a robust theoretical foundation while concurrently enhancing their clinical proficiency. Educational strategies such as simulation training, case-based learning, online instruction, and clinical internships equip students with essential competencies while optimizing the efficiency of the learning process. In Türkiye, the fundamentals of nursing course is structured and implemented in accordance with national educational standards and accreditation requirements, ensuring consistency and quality across nursing programs. As nursing education continues to evolve, these innovative approaches will play an even greater role in advancing the professional capabilities of future nurses. Diverse educational approaches are implemented both globally and in Türkiye, with contemporary instructional techniques gaining increasing significance in nursing fundamentals education. In Türkiye, the teaching of nursing fundamentals has been modernized in alignment with global advancements and enriched through various instructional methods. The incorporation of quality assurance and accreditation principles, along with context-specific instructional strategies, ensures that nursing students in türkiye are prepared to deliver safe and effective patient care.
