Nanomedicine in ophthalmology practice - A revolutionary approach to eye care

Objective: To examine the current state and prospects of nanotechnology applications in ocular therapeutics, diagnostics, and surgical interventions.
Methodology: A systematic review of the literature was conducted using electronic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. The search was restricted by time, but only to English publications.
Results: The ability to provide sustained drug release, reduce injection frequency, and minimize systemic side effects represents significant advantages over conventional therapies.
Conclusion: Current clinical applications of nanomedicine in ophthalmology show promising results in conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.
