Tobacco use is a major public health issue facing the world today, especially with the emergence and increasing popularity of new tobacco and nicotine products. One of the negative health effects of tobacco use is its impact on oral health. Among many other oral problems, tobacco use raises the risk of oral cancer, dental caries, periodontal disease, oral mucosal lesions, implant failure, and salivary gland hypofunction. This review provides an overview of the side effects of tobacco use on oral health.
