Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) among dentistry students of Lahore.
Methodology: This cross sectional survey was carried out from August 2017 to January 2018 at various dental colleges of Lahore, and comprised of 492 dentistry students. A self-administered questionnaire containing demographic data and general health screening along with Standardized Nordic questionnaire was distributed among the participants. Descriptive statistics were computed using SPSS 23.
Results: Of the 492 participants, 422 were included after leaving out the incomplete ones. The overall prevalence of MSDs was 79.3%. Among 422 participants, neck discomfort was most present in 43%, followed by LBP in 39%, shoulder and upper back pain in 33%.
Conclusion: Neck and lower back were more common. Overall there was high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among dentistry students.
