Abstract

AIM: This study aimed to determine the problems regarding business life and the level of job satisfaction of the employees in the Hacettepe University Library.
METHODS: The cross sectional charactered universe is composed of 57 people working in the Hacettepe University Library (Clinical Medicine Center Library and Beytepe Center Library), 43 of these (75,4%) are in the coverage of the study. The questionnaire forms were given out in January 2007 and taken the day after by the unit chiefs.
RESULTS: The average age of the study group is 37,41±7,11. Many of these are (69,8%) women, %67,5 educated in the university and upper than university, 34,8% are librarian. The basis problems with regard to working positions are reiterative jobs, causing backache, working continously sitting, with regard to working and working place conditions are dust, monotonous job and few payment. 92,5% of the study group content or mostly content working, 64,1% their jobs, 57,5% presently doing job, 59% working at their present working places. The frequency of unsatisfaction with their jobs is more in the Beytepe Center Library employees compared with the Clinical Medicine Center Library. It is determined that the frequency of unsatisfaction with their present jobs and working places is higher among the participants young than 40 years compared with the participants who are 40 years or older than 40 years. Among the participants regarding reiterative jobs as problems, the frequency of unsatisfaction with their present jobs and working places is more than among the participants not regarding.
CONCLUSION: The actions directed to solve the determined problems would contribute to enhancing effort of the job satisfaction and the efficiency.
