The Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors of 15–49 Age Group Women and Affecting Factors

Abstract

AIM: This study was planned to examine the healthy lifestyle behaviors and factors that affect women who are between 15-49 years old.
METHOD: The study which is a cross sectional and descriptive was conducted on women (n=300) who are 15-49 age group and accepted to take in place of study date of June-August 2008. The sample of the study is a cluster sampling method. There were 10 families in each cluster and total 30 cluster. The families cluster were determined via systematic randomize sample method from records in the 5th Primary Health Care Center in Manisa. For collecting data, a social demographic questionnaire and score Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP) were used. For statistical analyses were used descriptive calculations, chi-square, student T-Test, correlation, logistic regression, and odds ratio.
RESULTS: 51.7 % of women were in 15-29 age groups. The age mean of women 30.1±9.6 years. 42.6% of them were uneducated, 76% were married, 96% was house wife, 17, 4% no social security of them, %63.7 of them was low their income more than their outcome. The mean of total score of HPLP was 112.7±20.8. Subsection scores of the scale have founded as self actualization 33.4±7.4, health responsibility 19.4±5.8, exercise 7.8±3.3, interpersonal support 21.1±3.4, stress management 15.1±4.1, nutrition 15.5±3.3.
CONCLUSION: It was found that level of the women’ healthy lifestyle behaviors was low.
